Open Late Restaurants

Just because it’s late doesn’t mean you don’t have the munchies. The trick is finding places that are still open. We got you covered.
1. Shanahan’s Pub & Grill
Vancouver – Downtown
Kind of an Irish pub/roadhouse. They have one of the better valued happy hours in Vancouver. It’s not fine dining but the large variety of items available on the happy hour menu is the best I’ve seen (3-7pm).The sausage and pretzels are good. I like how salty the pretzels are. My wife likes the mild sausage. I like the smoked chicken quesadilla without the BBQ sauce. The cod tacos are good. We don’t care for the caprese salad but the Cesar looks much better. The Irish nachos are yummy. The mac & cheese with corn beef are a huge hit. The club sandwich is ample and excellent. I like that it’s only two pieces of bread. Onion rings are ok. The garlic cheese bread is like a grilled cheese sandwich and is wonderful. The sliders are not great. They have some kind of jelly on them. Also the buns are very dry. Only pedestrian cocktails at best. They make a pretty good bloody Mary. The Stairway stout is very good. Ample parking. The Infirmary, next door has far better spirits.
2. Creepy’s
Portland – Central Eastside
Creepy’s says they’re a dive bar. In some ways they are. But it’s bit too stylish to be truly that. Nevertheless, they play groovy music and serve a good burger and decent cocktails amongst other things. Street parking is luck of the draw but if your coming late you should be fine.
3. Hungry Sasquatch
Vancouver – Downtown
NYC style pizzeria. Slices are HUGE. One piece is enough unless you’re super hungry or a big eater. They offer just slices or whole pizzas. Good selection of beer. And they have very good cocktails for a pizza joint. Solid selection of mixers. Unfortunately the best sweet vermouth they offer is Dolin. Nevertheless they have a selection of amari and both green and yellow Chartreuse. Lots of pinball and old-school video games. Only street parking available.
4. The Offramp Sports Bar & Grill
Vancouver – Central
Plenty of TV’s.
5. Hooligan’s Sports Bar and Grill
Vancouver – Central
Comfort food and more TVs than Best Buy.
6. 13 Coins
Vancouver – Waterfront
Spendy waterfront eatery open late.
7. Brickhouse Bar & Grill
Vancouver – Downtown
Good food. Burger was excellent. Nice location. I was glad we were early. Looks like it could get loud.
8. Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers
Vancouver Central & Portland Downtown
Dining area open late.
9. Dave’s Hot Chicken
Both – Various Locations
Really great fastfood chicken. Most chains make food for the lowest common denominator. Not Dave’s. Their approach is to cater to those of us who like lots of flavor and spice. The staff are exceedingly helpful. This is a winning combination.
