Open Early Eateries
Sometimes you have to get up super early. Often times when you do, you want to pick something up on the way or perhaps have an early breakfast with someone. These are the eateries in VanPort that are open at least by 7am .
1. Los Bros Taco Shop
Vancouver – East
Los Bros is kind of fast food. It’s like Baja Fresh and Muchas Gracias had a love child. Not as corporate as Baja but higher quality and just a bit more style than Muchas. Yet Los Bros wins on price. A carne asada taco at Muchas costs $4.69 and a whopping $5.99 at Baja. Los Bros is just $2.50! They have lots of protein choices for their tacos. I went with carne asada, al pastor, carnitas and shredded beef. The al pastor wins for the most flavor. A huge win for me are the red and green sauces. I’m a fan.
2. Devs Coffee Bar Camas
CAMAS
Quality breakfast kiosk. The bagel sandwiches are good. I don’t like having that much bread but if bagels are your thing, this is your place. The Sasquatch is the star attraction. Order ahead via their website saves time.

4. Java Man Coffee
Portland – Downtown
Cozy local coffee bar.
5. Jim & Patty’s Black Tiger Coffee
Portland – West
Local favorite coffee bar that’s open early 7 days a week.
6. Mocks Bottom Cafe
Portland – West
Week days only.
7. Don Pedro Mexican Food #8
Portland- East
Early Mexican food in a converted Taco Bell open 7 days a week.
8. Elmer’s Restaurant
Various locations in Van/Port
Local eatery that is a favorite but is nothing special and is actually one of the most expensive places for breakfast.
9. The Coffee Station
Beaverton
Beaverton cafe open very early.
10. Buenos Días Mexican Cuisine
Vancouver – east
This is not your run of the mill Mexican joint. No chips and salsa. No margaritas. But you’ll find the cleanest, gourmet Mexican food in the area. They have a big emphasis on breakfast hence their name. It’s served all day. Their breakfast burritos are made with fresh, quality ingredients. They have great sauces for you to choose from. Two green, a red and a habanero. We like the red one the best. I was recommended a Jamaica drink that I really liked. It’s not like soda with corn syrup and and not like juice. It’s hard to describe. But it’s very pleasant. The chilaquiles con huevo Y carne is a delicious meal. I recently tried a wet burrito. It cames marinating in a lovely green sauce with sliced avocado on top. I like their burritos but this took it to a whole new level. The chilaquiles con huevo Y carne is a delicious meal. They also have fab biscuits and gravy.
11. Cascade Grill
Portland – North
Open 6am every day.
12. Denny’s
Portland – South
It’s a chain but they’re always open.
13. Victorico’s Mexican Food
Vancouver – Multiple
Victorico’s is a solid Mexican fast food chain. The machaca breakfast burrito tastes excellent and is very large. I tried the green, red and habanero sauces. Normally I prefer a green sauce for breakfast burritos but Victorico’s green has a substantial vinegar flavor. The habanero is really good but hotter than I care for breakfast. The red was the winner. The art direction has a bit of flare and it’s definitely a step up from the generic, tacky orange at Muchos Gracias. They have a massive TV on one wall showing sports. Thankfully the volume was muted. The only possible downside is the price. Before tip it was $11.75. Los Bros breakfast burrito costs $9.89 and Don Angel is even less. Having said that, Victorico’s has a great location and a drive thru.
14. IHOP
Vancouver & Portland
Only a 3.8 rating on Google Maps but an iconic American breakfast chain.
15. Muchas Gracias
Vancouver – Central
Not all Muchas Gracias are created equal. Some I won’t visit but this near 205 and Mill Plain serves good Mexican fast food. The menu is extensive. I like the adabado and chicken fajita burritos. They have three hot sauces. Green is mild, orange has some kick and the reddish brown is hot and flavorful. Recently they’ve added breakfast burritos that are the best I’ve encountered in the area so far. I should say they are very under seasoned. Apparently they are leaving that to each customer to add to their liking. I find myself adding more hot sauce than usual to compensate for the lack of salt and other seasoning. I don’t care for their chips. They’re over cooked.
16. Breakfast at Valerie’s
Vancouver – Central
Neighborhood breakfast joint in Vancouver under new ownership. Any place called “Breakfast at…” has to be good. They strive to be excellent. Their bacon was wonderful. Omelets are fantastic.
17. Di-Tazza Italian Gourmet Coffee and Pastries
Vancouver – East
Decent coffee. Cozy vibe. Better food than Starbucks. Nice staff.
18. The Bistro
Portland – North
No frills restaurant in Marriot by PDX.
