Fire at Steak Your Claim

VANCOUVER — A fire broke out Friday afternoon around 3 p.m. in the kitchen of Steak Your Claim, a popular sandwich shop in Vancouver.
The fire began small but quickly spread. Employees attempted to contain the blaze, but it was becoming unmanageable. The restaurant’s sprinkler system activated, slowing the flames enough for an employee to extinguish the remainder with a fire extinguisher. Both workers were soaked during the effort.

The fire alarm triggered evacuations of nearby businesses, sending staff and customers into the parking lot. Water was seen flowing from the restaurant’s kitchen and out the front door. The incident was brief, and operations in surrounding businesses resumed shortly after. No injuries were reported.

Steak Your Claim remains closed for cleanup, but we hope the restaurant will recover quickly and return to serving its delicious sandwiches.
