Best Rooftop Bars
A rooftop bar is a great place to be when the weather is warm and the rain is on hiatus. Some are true rooftops, while others are simply elevated balconies. Either way, if you want to take advantage of the sunshine and fresh air, these are the spots you’ll want to visit.
1. Departure Restaurant + Lounge
Portland – Downtown
Uber popular Portland spot for expensive dining and adult beverages with an amazing view. When most people think rooftop bar, Departures is front of mind. Their menu is Asian-fusion focused. You’ll find ten or so cocktails, a few mocktails beer or wine to sip as you look out over the city.
2. Metropolitan Tavern
Portland – CentralSitting between The Lyo Center and The Moda Center is Metropolitan Tavern. Their spacious rooftop bar has a fab view with glass walls to block the wind.
3. Xport Rooftop Lounge
Portland – Downtown
Perched atop The Porter Hotel, Xport offers a comfortable, welcoming atmosphere. The bar features a modest selection of cocktails, beer, and wine, while the food menu includes a mix of shareable appetizers and entrées.
4. Roof Deck at Revolution Hall
Portland – Neighborhood
Revolution Hall is a live music venue which used to be Washington High School. Their spacious Roof Deck bar has a lovely view. The drinks aren’t caft cocktails but they are afforable.
5. 10 Barrel Brewing
Portland – Downtown
10 Barrel Brewing has a spacious rooftop and an outdoor bar to match. There you’ll have an extensive range of beer, around 10 cocktails and some wine and just a couple of ciders. They serve comfort food to go with the drinks.
6. Tope
Portland – Downtown
Tope sits atop the Hoxton Hotel. It has a good-sized patio with a lovely view. They have a small food menu consisting of tacos and finger foods, but the focus is on adult beverages. Margaritas will set you back about $16—not a bad price for the location.
7. Waterfront Taphouse
Vancouver – Waterfront
Located above Twigs, Waterfront Taphouse has a patio with a fab view of the river and the bridge. They serve simple but well presented food and drinks.
Don’t let the taphouse name fool you. Some of the better cocktails in Vancouver are served here. It’s a great choice to take people out or for a date night.
8. Noble Rot
Portland – Central
Noble Rot is a wine bar with a modest sized patio. The focus is on wine but they also have a dozen cocktails on the menu and a small selection of beer.
9. Radio Room
Portland – Alberta
Radio Room has a mid 20th century vibe and is in a vintage gas station with a dual level outdoor area. Their bar has excellent stock. Sunday’s they have live jazz. They’re open 9- late 7 days a week. Bunch until 3pm. Happy hour 3-6 Mon-Sat and 3-close Sunday. BTW: Radio Room is a sister restaurant to Keys Lounge.
10. DOSALAS
Vancouver – Waterfront
Latin restaurant with exquisite art direction, pricey fancy-food served on little plates and EDM. The chow is creative and delicious. They have a moderate sized patio with a fire pit.
11. Witness Tree Lounge
Vancouver – Waterfront
Witness Tree is a cocktail bar on the 8th floor of the Hotel Indigo. Their patio is small but it’s view is one of the best in Vancouver. Drinks are good but expensive. The happy hour appetizers are small (appropriately called bites) but tasty.
12. Jackie’s
Portland – Central
Jackie’s is a sports bar with a covered upper deck with TV’s showing athletic sporting events.
