Best Burritos
Burritos can be an entire Mexican meal wrapped up in a tortilla. Throw a rock and you’ll find a place that serves burritos but these are the really good ones you want.
1. Buenos Días
Vancouver – EastThis is not your run of the mill Mexican joint. But you’ll find the cleanest, gourmet Mexican food in the area. Their burritos are made with fresh, quality ingredients. They have great sauces for you to choose from. Two green, a red and a habanero. We like the red one the best. Try the wet burrito. It cames marinating in a lovely green or red sauce with sliced avocado on top. I like their burritos but this took it to a whole new level. Their Jamaica drinks pair well with their food.
2. Los Bros Taco Shop
Vancouver – East
Los Bros is fast food but better than Baja Fresh and Muchas Gracias. Los Bros wins on price and quality. The machaca, fajita and pastor burritos are very good. A huge win are their sauces. We’re a fan of the red. The green is for those that think ketchup is kind of spicy. It has zero heat. Another plus is that they’re open everyday at 6am…except Friday.
3. Don Angel Taqueria
Vancouver – Several
The “Don” trucks serve great Mexican food. They have terrific tacos and burritos with several proteins to choose from. We like the carne asada and carnitas the best. Decent amount of parking. PRO TIP: If you like spicy they have a red and creamy habanero sauces. Both are good but I think the habanero is more to my taste.
4. Muchas Gracias
Vancouver – Central
Not all Muchas Gracias are created equal. Some I won’t visit anymore but the location near 205 and Mill Plain is very good Mexican fast food. The menu is extensive but I like the adabado and chicken fajita burritos. They have three hot sauces. Green is mild, orange has some kick and the reddish brown is hot and flavorful.
5. La Osita PDX
Portland – East
The La Osita food cart is serving top shelf, elevated Mexican burritos and tacos. The carne asada burrito is very flavorful with quality ingredients. The truck is tucked away on a lot and it not easily seen, but it’s worth the effort to find this one.
6. King Burrito
Portland – Northwest
King Burrito is a popular eatery. They had a line the whole time we were there. One unfortunate thing is their menu doesn’t have descriptions. Your burrito might end up having something you don’t care for if you don’t ask. Nevertheless, they make very good burritos. I liked the hot sauces they have. The chips and salsa was more like chips and pico de gallo. If you’re in the area, this is a solid choice. No website.
7. Super Taco Express
Vancouver – North
Super Taco Express is a no frills but is one of the best places in town to get a burrito. They have a wide range of meats to choose from. We like the carnitas but you can’t go wrong with any of their proteins. Their habanero sauce is on point. They have a few tables but you’ll probably just do take out. No website.
8. Santo Domingo Taqueria
Portland – North East
Santo Domingo is a small eatery that serves excellent Mexican food including some of the best carnitas we’ve had. Their burritos are loaded with savory meat with a bit of tomato, onion, cilantro and guacamole. The texture and flavor of the carnitas in on point. The burritos are large for those with hungry appetites. Santo Domingo has indoor and outdoor seating. There’s three parking spots in the tiny lot in front. Otherwise there’s street parking.
9. La Sirenita
Portland – North
Great neighborhood Mexican joint. Their burritos are huge. The habanero green sauce is very good and only moderately spicy. Parking can hard to find.
10. Taco Tom’s Lonchera
Vancouver – East
Excellent priced truck. The fajita burrito is fab. The carne asada and carnitas tacos are very good as well. They give you a pager to let you know your order is ready. Parking is on a gravel lot. No website
